He is being replaced by Doina Palici-Chehab, who will take on his chief executive role in addition to her current responsibilities as chief executive of Axa’s general insurance arm in Singapore.

Williams worked at Axa Philippines, Axa Hong Kong, Barti Axa Life Insurance and Axa Asia Regional Office, before becoming chief executive of Axa’s life business in Singapore at the end of 2010.

In a statement sent to colleagues, seen by International Adviser, Axa said Williams had “decided to leave Axa and explore a new opportunity”.

“Four years ago we started the journey of organisational transformation with a number of functions becoming shared functions supporting both the life and the P&C business. The successful implementation of these share functions has encouraged us to continue creating 'One Axa' in Singapore,” Axa said.

Palici-Chehab has spent the last 25 years at Axa, latterly becoming chief executive of Axa Business Services in India, and in 2013 taking on the role of chief executive of Axa Insurance Singapore.

Williams began his career as a student actuary in 1992 with Guardian Assurance in London and Lancashire, UK.

Prior to starting at Axa in 2002, he also worked at the Swiss Re Life and Health in the UK and in Hong Kong for seven years in various actuarial and sales roles.
