The Isle of Man and Dubai have signed a memorandum of understanding, designed to strengthen business, economic and trade relations between the two countries.

Colin Kniveton, chief executive of the Isle of Man’s Department of Economic Development, last week visited the emirate to discuss international relations with Sami Gamzi, his counterpart in Dubai. The meeting was also attended by international lawyer Mansour Malik and several officials from the Dubai Government.

Kniveton previously travelled to Dubai in October last year, and took part in discussions on how co-operation between the two countries could be enhanced. During the visit, he highlighted the aspirations of Isle of Man companies wishing to extend their business activities in the region.

“The signing of the memorandum of understanding will provide an excellent foundation for Isle of Man companies to build relationships with UAE businesses,” he said.

“It will further boost the island’s profile as a good place to live, work and do business and firms helping to attract investment.”
