Zurich International Life has signed a deal with ICICI Bank, making it the bank’s exclusive provider for conventional life insurance products in Bahrain.

The announcement follows the recent appointment of Fathalla Ebrahim as general manager of Zurich’s Bahrain office.

The ‘appointed representative’ agreement was signed by Ebrahim and Vikash Sharma, country head, ICICI Bank, and approved by the Central Bank of Bahrain in July.

As International Adviser reported, Ebrahim replaced Tracy Christian as Zurich’s Bahrain general manager. Ebrahim, a former Bahrain Insurance Association board member, reports to Mark Hartigan, chief executive of the company’s global life division for the Middle East and Africa.

“With our market leading range of protection and investment propositions, together with ICICI Bank's significant distribution capabilities, we envisage an exciting future for both Zurich and ICICI Bank,” said Ebrahim.

Zurich International Life, which offers life assurance, investment and protection products, has Middle East offices in United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Qatar. ICICI Bank, India’s second-largest bank, has subsidiaries in Bahrain, Qatar and the Dubai International Financial Centre.
