Franklin Templeton Investments has appointed a new director of its Africa retail and institutional operations.

Jo-Anne Bailey joins the company from Cadiz Asset Management where she was head of institutional business development. Based in Cape Town, in her new role Bailey will be responsible for developing the firm's retail and institutional businesses across the African continent. She will report to Andrew Ashton, regional head for Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA), who is currently based in Dubai.

Franklin Templeton first established a presence in Africa in 1995 when it opened an office in Johannesburg to oversee the distribution of its products in key markets such as South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Kenya and Mauritius. Since then, the company said it has made “significant strides” in the region.
