Renaissance Asset Managers, the emerging Europe, Russia and Africa investment specialist, has appointed a new chief executive.

The new CEO, Barbara Rupf Bee, will have responsibility for leading the company’s strategy in emerging markets and will oversee 30 investment professionals with $2.8bn (£1.77bn, €2.14bn) in assets under management. She joins the company from HSBC Global Asset Management where she had been global head of institutional sales since November 2007.

Meanwhile, Renaissance has also named its chief investment officer Plamen Monovski as its new president. Monovski joined the company in January 2010, having formerly co-managed the BlackRock Emerging Europe Fund, a pre-eminent specialist fund with assets that reached $9bn.

The management re-shuffle follow the firm’s recent acquisition of three emerging Europe funds from Griffin Capital Management, which added four new investment professionals to its team.
