Standard Life Investments has signed a distribution agreement with Swedish banking group Länsförsäkringar to distribute its global absolute return strategy fund in Sweden.

The agreement comes just two weeks after SLI announced a deal to distribute the GARS strategy in America via US-based asset manager John Hancock Mutual Funds.

SLI said the GARS fund will be available to the Swedish retail marketplace through Länsförsäkringar’s unit-linked platform. Länsförsäkringar is Sweden’s only customer-owned and locally-based banking and insurance group.

The GARS distribution agreement is not the first deal signed between the two groups. In 2009, SLI signed a deal for Länsförsäkringar to manage a €230m European Corporate Bond portfolio.

Åsa Norrie, SLI’s joint head of European business and head of Nordic region, said: "We are very pleased to have secured a distribution deal with Länsförsäkringar, after a rigorous selection process.

"It demonstrates the strength and reputation of our multi-asset investment capability in Europe and we look forward to helping Länsförsäkringar roll out GARS across Sweden."
