Advisory firm PWS shuts Qatar office, to expand in Barcelona

3 Apr 17

Middle East advisory firm Prestige Wealth Solutions (PWS) has decided to close its Qatar office following the completion of its annual strategic business review.

Craig McConnon, chief executive of the PWS Group, said the firm would continue to support existing and new clients and remains fully committed to the Middle East region as a whole.

“With rapidly changing regulation and having opened new offices in both Dubai and Barcelona as of January this year and further European offices soon to be opened, we took the decision to streamline other areas, hence the Qatar decision,” McConnon said.

He went on to express his thanks and well wishes to the firm’s regional managing partner Brian Ferguson, who will remain in Qatar as a financial adviser where he has been since 2011.

McConnon said the company’s new Barcelona office will act as the firm’s training and support centre. “We already have over 30 staff which will be increasing to over 50 in the near future,” he said, adding that the facility would provide dedicated support to adviser teams globally.

PWS was awarded a broker licence by the UAE’s Insurance Authority in May last year and offers insurance advice via a new unit called Prestige Insurance Brokers.
