aes to open in zurich after joining trade body

13 Mar 12

UK-headquartered advisory firm AES International has been granted membership of a non-profit financial association in Switzerland, paving the way for it to open in the country later this month.

UK-headquartered advisory firm AES International has been granted membership of a non-profit financial association in Switzerland, paving the way for it to open in the country later this month.

AES has joined the L’Association Romande des Intermédiaires Financiers (ARIF), – a non-profit self regulatory body for non-banking financial intermediaries.

Founded in Geneva in March 1999, ARIF is a private association which seeks to prevent and fights against the laundering of assets within Switzerland. In 2009, ARIF said that the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority recognised the self-regulatory standards of its code of conduct for independent asset managers.

The association has 490 members and is open to non-bank financial intermediaries doing business in Switzerland.

AES said it expects to open its first Swiss office in Zurich later this month.

AES chief executive, Sam Instone, said: “This is an important step in our plans to extend our offering of financial advice and wealth management services to expat and international clients in Switzerland.”

He added that extending the company’s offering into Switzerland is an “important step in maintaining AES’s pace of growth”.
