Nigel Smith leaves FPI to join deVere

Nigel Smith has joined the deVere Group as global technical manager, a new position.

Nigel Smith has joined the deVere Group as global technical manager, a new position.

Smith, who is based in Malta, had been head of wealth management (Middle East) for Friends Provident International, the Isle of Man-based international arm of Resolution’s Friends Life Group.

He brings with him to deVere more than 25 years’ experience, and has particular technical expertise in the areas of taxation, trusts and financial planning matters, according to deVere.

At deVere, Smith will be involved in supporting financial advisers on the technical issues involved in developing wealth management business with high net-worth expatriates, deVere said.

Smith is an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute as well as being a member of the Personal Financial Society and the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners. According to deVere, he has won a number of industry-sponsored prizes.
