DeVere’s Europe expansion continues with first Austria office

By Kirsten Hastings, 16 Aug 17

DeVere Group is to open its first office in Austria as part of its “ambitious expansion” across western Europe, which saw the company re-open its office in Madrid three years after shutting it down.

DeVere Group is to open its first office in Austria as part of its “ambitious expansion” across western Europe, which saw the company re-open its office in Madrid three years after shutting it down.

The Vienna office will open on 1 September and be headed by David Mihelic and supported by James Stratford, who will report to Colin Eldridge, head of deVere Italia.

Austrian attraction

Eldridge said: “Having built a successful operation in Italy the next obvious step is to move into Austria where we see huge potential for growth.

“Austria is an important financial centre and home to a large number of international companies, and has a high number of expats and international investors.

“We fully expect more and more globally-minded and internationally-mobile individuals to come to Vienna over the next few years – perhaps more than ever – as the eurozone recovers and growth and confidence return, attracting more multinational firms, and as continental Europe readjusts to a post-Brexit world.”

The company expects to take on 10 consultants and their support staff within the next 12-18 months.

Western Europe strategy

The opening of the office in the Austrian capital follows the appointment of James Green in May as head of western Europe and comes two weeks since deVere reopened its Madrid office.

Paul Dodds, the senior area manager for the region, said: “The launch of deVere Austria is the next major milestone in our ambitious expansion programme across the region. Expect more announcements shortly as we continue to implement our strategic plans for the continent.

“We believe that the Austrian operation, with Colin Eldridge at the helm could, in time, become one of western Europe’s flagship bases.”

For his part, deVere Group founder and chief executive, Nigel Green, recently said: “This expansion and development of [western Europe] is now a major priority for the organisation for the rest of 2017 and beyond.

“We’re set to shake-up the western Europe market place. Of that, I am confident. Underscoring our commitment to this move, we’re allocating extra investment and resources to western Europe.”
