310 guernsey qrops off new hmrc list

12 Apr 12

HM Revenue & Customs has published an updated list of registered QROPS, which confirms the de-listing of the majority of Guernsey schemes.

HM Revenue & Customs has published an updated list of registered QROPS, which confirms the de-listing of the majority of Guernsey schemes.

The new list, which may be viewed here, shows a fall of 310 in the number of Guernsey schemes registered as a QROPS since the list was last published in March. Within the last list, published by HMRC on 14 March, the number of Guernsey schemes stood at 313 – this number has fallen to just three today.

Another jurisdiction to see a significant fall in the number of its registered QROPS is New Zealand, which is down to 23 today, from 64 last month.

Meanwhile, there is no significant change to the number of Maltese schemes, which have been largely unaffected by the regulatory changes to QROPS introduced earlier this month.

Another large QROPS jurisdiction, the Isle of Man, has seen a negligible change in the number of QROPS schemes registered with HMRC, falling to 173 today from 183. The most notable absentee from today’s list is the Boal & Co. Trinity scheme, which operates under the island’s 50C legislation, and thus does not comply with HMRC’s new QROPS rules.
