PEOPLE MOVES: Sun Life, Irwin Mitchell, Sanlam and others

Sun Life appoints for HNW strategy in Hong Kong, Irwin Mitchell boosts its offshore and tax practice and Sanlam appoints from Neptune.

Sun Life appoints for HNW strategy in Hong Kong, Irwin Mitchell boosts its offshore and tax practice and Sanlam appoints from Neptune.

Sun Life

Sun Life Hong Kong is building up its high net worth capabilities with the recruitment of Jeroen Simons as director, HNW business development.

Simons has been tasked with bringing a range of new products to market specifically designed for HNWIs. These insurance solutions will form an integral part of the wealth planning tools at the disposal of the HNW brokers, private banks, external asset managers and other industry professionals.

He brings with him over 30 years’ in banking and financial services. Simons most recently served as business development director at Swiss Life Singapore where he had a particular focus on open architecture ILAS and variable universal life sales.

Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth

Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth has made two promotions with Nick Rucker being appointed national head of Tax, Trusts & Estates and George Merrylees being promoted to partner.

Previously head of the London & International team, Rucker oversees the national Tax, Trusts & Estates practice across the leading law firm’s 14 offices. Rucker’s promotion marks an important step for Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth, which recently named Ros Bever as national head of family law, towards offering clients a full private client service across the UK.

Nick Rucker has a background in corporate and private client law with particular interest in international structuring, investment structures and tax for high-net-worth individuals, families and private offices. He also spent five years as an investment banker.

Sanlam

Sanlam UK has appointed Charlie Parker as head of portfolio management from Neptune Investment Management, where he spent the last three years as director, asset management.

Prior to this, he spent eight years at Citywire Financial Publishers as a journalist before being appointed as director, where he was responsible for establishing a division providing outsourced services to the asset management industry.

In his new role, Parker will work closely with chief executive of Sanlam Wealth, John White, and has been tasked with helping grow the division’s business and overseeing the development of its proposition.

Legg Mason

Legg Mason has promoted Joe O’Donnell to head of wealth management distribution and investment trusts.

In this newly created role, O’Donnell will report to Alexander Barry, head of UK sales at Legg Mason.

O’Donnell joined the firm in 2007 and has over 10 years of experience at Legg Mason as regional sales director, responsible for fund sales to intermediaries across England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. He joined Legg Mason from Barclays Wealth having spent eight years there as a portfolio manager.

AXA

AXA Investment Managers has appointed Alessandro Tentori as chief investment officer for Italy. Based in Milan, he will be part of the global Research & Investment Strategy team led by Laurence Boone, global head of research and multi-asset client solutions at AXA IM.

Tentori joins from Citigroup London, where he spent five years as managing director and head of International Interest Rates Strategy.
