PEOPLE MOVES: Standard Life/Aberdeen, RWC Partners, Zedra

New senior management team unveiled for the soon to be merged Standard Life and Aberdeen Asset Management. Amundi has appointed a head of consultant relations, with Zedra hiring an executive director to target growth opportunities.

Standard Life / Aberdeen AM

Following confirmation that Standard Life and Aberdeen Asset Management are to merge in an £11bn (€12.7bn, $13.5bn) deal, the companies announced that Standard Life chairman Gerry Grimstone will become chairman of the combined group. His Aberdeen counterpart Simon Troughton is to become deputy chairman.

Aberdeen’s Martin Gilbert and Standard Life’s Keith Skeoch, will become co-chief executives of the combined group. Bill Rattray of Aberdeen and Rod Paris of Standard Life are to be named chief financial officer and chief investment officer, respectively.

The board of directors for the tentatively named Standard Aberdeen will comprise an equal number of representatives from each firm.

RWC Partners

RWC Partners has hired Arthur Grigoryants for a newly created role of head of investment strategy, focusing on a wide range of investment, strategic and management issues.

He has 22 years of experience in finance including central banking, investment consulting and asset management. Prior to joining RWC Partners, Grigoryants spent 12 years with Stonehage Fleming as a head of investments and most recently as a joint chief investment officer. He previously spent three years at Mercer as a consultant.

Zedra

International trust, corporate and fund services provider Zedra has widened the scope of its client offering with the recruitment of Bridget Barker. As executive director funds & corporate, Barker will support and enhance the firm’s corporate and fund services and provide further opportunity for new market growth.

She joins Zedra from city law firm Macfarlanes and brings with her almost 36 years’ experience, particularly related to fund raising in the areas of private equity and real estate.

Old Mutual Global Investors

OMGI has handed the Old Mutual European Equity fund to Ian Ormiston, who joined the firm in October 2014, having managed Ignis’s European smaller companies fund prior to its acquisition by Standard Life.

Kevin Lilley, manager of the Old Mutual European Equity (ex UK) fund, is leaving OMGI. His remit has been passed to European equity assistant fund manager Liam Nunn, who has been promoted to fund manager.

Deutsche Bank

Pascal Boillat will take on the newly-created group chief information officer role at Deutsche Bank with immediate effect. He will continue to report to Kim Hammonds, member of the management board and group chief operating officer.

Boillat joined Deutsche Bank in 2016 as chief information officer and head of operations for the Corporate & Investment Bank. In his new role, he will be responsible for defining technology strategy across the bank to serve clients while further enhancing standardisation and digital capabilities.

Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Boillat was head of operations and technology for US secondary mortgage market company Fannie Mae.

Amundi

Michel Bernard has been named global head of consultant relations of Amundi. He joins from boutique asset manager Unigestion where he was responsible for institutional business development.

Prior to that he spent nine years at F&C Asset Management, notably as head of business development and head of the UK client relations team.
