Canaccord raids Brooks Macdonald International for intermediaries, HNWI, and charities push

Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management has hired Greg Powell as an investment director.

The appointment comes hot on the heels of Tim Sanders’ appointment from Books Macdonald to be became its Jersey office head earlier this month.

Powell has worked in the wealth management and investment industry for over 20 years, managing a range of clients including high net worth individuals (HNWIs), charities and intermediaries.

The discretionary management and advisory client specialist, qualified as a chartered accountant with PWC in London, and then returned to Jersey to work for Collins Stewart, and most recently Brooks.

“These are exciting times for Canaccord and our Jersey team,” said chief executive David Esfandi.

“We are seeing considerable growth in the Channel Islands and Greg’s appointment is testament to that fact. A key tenet of our business strategy is to attract talented, experienced individuals to work for us – hiring good people is vital to our success.”

Grahame Lovett, chief executive offshore, said: “I am delighted to welcome Greg on board at Canaccord’s Jersey office. His 20 years’ experience in investment management means he is an excellent addition to the team.

“His hire further underlines our firm’s strength in the Bailiwick Islands and commitment to be an innovative, client-focused business in the region.
