Mobius to stand down as PM on 12 funds

By Kirsten Hastings, 21 Mar 17

Mark Mobius is to stand down from fund management duties on a range of 12 Luxembourg Sicavs but will remain as executive chairman of Templeton Emerging Markets Group.

Mark Mobius is to stand down from fund management duties on a range of 12 Luxembourg Sicavs but will remain as executive chairman of Templeton Emerging Markets Group.

Following the appointment of Stephen Dover at chief investment officer last April, several changes will take place to evolve the fund range while recognising “the next generation of leaders”.

Franklin Templeton said the “time-tested” philosophy and disciplined approach of the team would remain intact.

He will continue as lead manager on Templeton Asean fund as well as other mandates across the regions.

In a statement, the  group said: “[Mobius will] continue to be involved in our investment process, participating in our research efforts and company visits, sharing investment ideas and advising the team on our investment process, and engaging with clients/media to share his insights.”

The group added that succession planning was “inherent” to how its investment teams were managed.

The changes to portfolio management will take place in two stages, effective from 3 April and 31 May respectively.
