Fake Prudential websites trigger Hong Kong regulator warning

By Kirsten Hastings, 9 Apr 19

Potential victims urged to contact the insurer and submit a police report

The Hong Kong Insurance Authority (HKIA) has alerted the public to two fraudulent websites purporting to represent insurer Prudential.

The domain names are mis-spelled but could still ensnare people who mis-type website addresses.

They are www.prudemtial.hk and www.prudentials.hk.

Prudential Hong Kong and Prudential General Insurance Hong Kong have confirmed that they have no affiliation with the websites.

The HKIA said: “The case has been reported to the Hong Kong Police Force for further investigation.

“Anyone who has provided personal information to the websites or has conducted any insurance transactions through the websites should call Prudential Customer Services Hotline and report the case to the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau of the police.”
