PEOPLE MOVES: KBL European PB, Charles Stanley, Rothschild WM

By Robbie Lawther, 24 May 19

Former UBS Wealth Management president and vice chairman resurface at Brown Shipley’s parent group

KBL European Private Bankers (KBL)

The parent group of UK-based firm Brown Shipley has named Jurg Zeltner as group chief executive and a member of the board of directors.

This is subject to approval from the European Central Bank and Luxembourg’s financial regulator the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier.

The former president of UBS Wealth Management will replace Peter Vandekerckhove, who is stepping down from the day-to-day business of his current position.

Vandekerckhove will remain a member of the board of directors and the board of Puilaetco Dewaay, the group’s Belgian affiliate.

Jakob Stott, who most recently served as vice-chairman of UBS Wealth Management, will join Zeltner at KBL as chief executive of wealth management and a member of the executive committee.

Zeltner and Stott will oversee major investments at several KBL-owned private banks across Europe including the UK, Netherlands, Spain, Luxembourg, Germany and Belgium.

Charles Stanley

Gary Teper will leave his role as head of investment manager and group board director at the UK firm.

He will leave the group and its subsidiaries by mutual agreement as at 31 May 2019 and has resigned as director with effect from 21 May 2019.

This announcement follows a group update which highlighted its intention to restructure its operating model through a transformation project, including plans to standardise processes and introduce a simplified organisational structure.

Rothschild Wealth Management

Tatjana Flade joins the management team of the business in Frankfurt from July.

She will focus on the segment of high-net-worth families and family businesses and report directly to the management.

Flade joins from Deutsche Bank, where she  was managing director of the wealth management activities of the Frankfurt am Main region.

Royal London Asset Management

The firm hired Nora O’Mahony as non-executive director to its two fund boards, effective from 1 June 2019.

O’Mahony will also retain her role as head of product and fund development at Fidante Partners, a position held since the end of January.

Prior to this, she had a consultancy role at Pacific Asset Management.

Albemarle Street Partners

The specialist advice and investment management consultancy for advisers has appointed Charlie Parker as managing director, effective from 1 June 2019.

Parker joins from Sanlam UK, where he was head of portfolio management.

Helm Godfrey

The UK financial adviser firm has hired John Ditchfield as head of responsible investment.

Ditchfield will be leading Helm Godfrey’s plans to develop its products, services and levels of expertise in responsible investment, and also provide the firm with advice around wealth management.

He is co-chairman of the Ethical Investment Association, the UK’s networking organisation for advisers active in the sector.

Ditchfield was also a director of advice firm Barchester Green Investment, which was sold to Castlefield Partners.

Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)

Kathryn Sherratt is leaving her role at FSCS as chief financial officer on 23 May to join the Post Office.

Sherratt led the FSCS’s approach to business planning and budgeting, including the introduction of activity-based budgeting.

Fiona Kidy, head of financial management and funding, will be acting chief financial officer following Sherratt’s departure.
