Singapore fintech firms unveil digital life insurer

By Robbie Lawther, 27 Aug 19

Insurance is maturing and advisory sector should remain mainly face-to-face, says newly appointed boss

Singapore-based online broker Insurance Market and financial adviser platform My-Insurer have joined forces to set up a life insurance arm.

Insurance Market Life will offer services on a digital platform via financial advisers that are “free and truly independent” from insurers.

The advisers will use digital tools to facilitate lead generation, onboard clients and service policyholders.

Face-to-face

“Insurance is maturing”, said Matthias de Ferrieres, chief executive of My-Insurer and head of Insurance Market Life. “We have found that for simple products it is efficient to use an online market place.

“However, to explain health and life insurance, education and personalised advice through face-to-face engagement is still what many customers are looking for. So, we provide both.

“Complex insurance is relational and not transactional. We believe insurance advisory is and will remain mainly done face-to-face. Our platform will support that vision.

“We will make easy for advisers to prospect, analyse, understand and transact with their customers.”
