International law firm Conyers Dill & Pearman has appointed Charles Collis as head of its London office.

Collis, who will relocate for the new role from his current position as head of the company’s Bermuda office, will replace Christopher Johnson-Gilbert, who will take on a role as counsel for the company.

Conyers said in his new role Collis will be tasked with setting the “strategic course for its London operations, developing new and existing lines of business in London”. The company’s London team provides expertise in a range of practices including investment funds, securitisation, structured finance, insurance, shipping and aircraft, Islamic Finance, and general corporate work for UK and Europe based clients.

John Collis, chairman of Conyers, said: “Charles is a pre-eminent and thoughtful leader who is ideally suited to play a key role in the ongoing growth of our London office as we advance our presence across Europe. Our London office is of great strategic importance, and Charles’ expertise, network and substantial relationships deepen our existing strengths.”
