Technology company Empathy has launched its digital estate and legacy planning product, LifeVault, in the UK.
The launch brings the platform to British families for the first time, expanding Empathy’s reach across the UK, US and Canada to 50 million people across its full range of products.
LifeVault is designed to help families organise the practical and emotional aspects of estate planning through a secure digital platform.
The product brings together tools for creating and updating legally valid documents, including wills, powers of attorney and funeral wishes. It also provides guidance on signing, witnessing and registering documents where appropriate.
Empathy said users can also organise information about property, pensions, bank accounts and other assets, and give trusted contacts permission to access these details when needed.
LifeVault also includes educational resources to help clients understand their options and make informed decisions. It also includes Conversations, an AI-guided feature designed to help families discuss their wishes, values and legacy in a private digital space.
Another feature, Legacy Letters, allows users to securely preserve personal messages and memories outside formal legal documents.
Clare Dodd, UK general manager at Empathy, said: “Planning for the future is one of the most important things we can do for the people we love, but too often we put these decisions off as they feel overwhelming, expensive and complicated.
“The result is that around two thirds of UK adults don’t have a will, leaving many families unprepared for what comes next. Yet taking the time to plan ahead can make a lasting difference to the people we leave behind.
“LifeVault is designed to remove those barriers, making legacy planning easier and more accessible, so people can prepare for the future with confidence, giving families greater clarity and certainty when it matters most.”
Empathy said LifeVault has already built scale in North America through partnerships with insurers, financial institutions and employers, including Kellanova and New York Life Insurance.
