Ex-Carrick Wealth managing director to run DeVere-owned firm

By Robbie Lawther, 19 May 21

Replacing the chief executive and founder who has left the UAE-based business

Greg Stockton has been hired to run financial advice firm Prosperity which is owned by deVere Group.

Stockton will report directly to deVere Group founder and chief executive Nigel Green. International Adviser has contacted deVere Group to confirm Stockton’s job title.

He has worked in financial services for more than 17 years – of which 13 were with deVere, where he held senior positions in Hong Kong, Qatar and Cape Town.

Stockton was most recently commercial manager at Finsbury Associates, as well as commercial director for Blue Sky Thinking and, prior to that, managing director at Carrick Wealth.

He succeeds Prosperity founder and chief executive Andy Cole, who leaves the business after more than 12 years.

‘Time of transition and change’

Stockton said: “I’m looking forward to working with the group of extremely talented wealth management professionals at Prosperity and also considerably expanding the existing team to meet the growing demand for results-driven advice in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

“This is a time of transition and change in our sector, and this brings enormous opportunity for any organisation that’s well-positioned to adapt and respond.”

Green added: “Greg brings a wealth of experience, skill and industry knowhow and we’re pleased to welcome him back to our group of companies.

“He is a talented and innovative professional who will deliver leadership, value and execution for our colleagues and clients.”

Acquisition

Devere Group bought Abu Dhabi-headquartered Prosperity in 2019.

At the time of the 2019 acquisition, Green said: “We’re enthused about the Prosperity acquisition and this overall growth strategy.

“We’re uniquely positioned to pursue this robust and far-reaching plan – which includes further acquisitions, the launch of additional subsidiary brands, plus new products and fintech development – due to our already dominant position in the sector.”

Prosperity is an independent entity which provides financial advice to both corporations and private clients and has offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, working with clients across the GCC region.
