SJP unveils later life care service

By Cristian Angeloni, 24 May 21

As it partners with comparison site to help elderly clients

St James’s Place has teamed up with Care Sourcer, which it describes as the UK’s first comparison website for care, to help its elderly clients with later-life strategies and funding.

The ‘Care Concierge’ service will help customers with:

  • Proactively planning for future needs;
  • Reviewing what type of care they may need and exploring suitable options;
  • Conducting an assessment of their care funding and benefit entitlement;
  • Putting a care package in place – even within 24 hours; and,
  • Understanding care fees and securing the best option at the lowest cost possible.

Clients will be referred to the service by their SJP partner, who will then advise on their needs.

Biggest increase in 80+ year-olds

Tony Mudd, divisional director for development and technical consultancy at SJP, said: “Over the next 13 years, those aged 80 and above in the UK are likely to increase from three million to five million, the biggest percentage increase for this age group since records began.

“However, despite increasing demand, not everyone will have access to publicly funded care. Instead, most of us will need to make some contribution upon entering the care system, while many more will have to meet their costs in full.”

Andrew Parfery, chief executive and co-founder of Care Sourcer, added: “For years, we have experienced how stressful and confusing people find navigating the care system, either for themselves or a loved one.

“Together, our Care Concierge service aims to support their 750,000 clients, by planning and supporting them in the understanding, finding and funding of care.”
