GoFundMe page set up for family of ‘true hero’ Trevor Pelling

By Kirsten Hastings, 11 Jun 21

The deVere Acuma area manager died after saving his daughters from being pulled out to sea while on holiday

A holiday to Portugal took a tragic turn for Trevor Pelling and his family.

On 3 June, his daughters, aged 12 and 9, got into difficulty when swimming and were at risk of being swept out to sea by strong currents.

Pelling, aged 45, rushed into the water to help them but suffered a cardiac arrest.

According to reports, he was taken to shore by surfers; where a nurse, who happened to be on the beach, spent nearly an hour trying to resuscitate him before he was pronounced dead.

His daughters were brought safely to shore.

Supporting his family

Pelling and his family were based in Abu Dhabi where he was an area manager for deVere Acuma.

He started his career with deVere Group in 2008, where he worked until 2016 when he joined Guadian Wealth Management.

Pelling re-joined deVere Group in October 2019.

A GoFundMe page has now been set up by the firm’s founder and chief executive, Nigel Green.

At the time Pelling’s death was announced, Green commented: “The deVere family is devastated by the tragic passing of Trevor.

“We knew him as a great, generous and talented colleague. We now also know him as a true hero. We send our deepest condolences to his family.”

On the GoFundMe page, Green said: “Your prayers, well wishes and donations will be highly appreciated to support Trevor’s beautiful family during this tragic time.”

Donations made to the GoFundMe page, which can be accessed here, will go directly to his wife.
