pimco launches global income fund

Pimco has launched a global fixed interest fund for European investors aimed at generating regular income in any given market environment.

Pimco has launched a global fixed interest fund for European investors aimed at generating regular income in any given market environment.

The Pimco GIS Income Fund is a global multi-sector bond fund managed by Dan Ivascyn, managing director and head of the mortgage credit portfolio management team, and Alfred Murata, executive vice president and portfolio manager on the mortgage credit team.

The firm said it had been successfully managing assets under the strategy since 2007 and used a flexible approach to shift exposure from one country or sector to the next depending on where the best income-generating opportunities are.

To enable this, the fund can invest in government bonds, inflation-linked bonds, agency and non-agency mortgage-backed securities, commercial mortgage-backed securities, corporate bonds across the spectrum, bank loans and emerging market bonds.

Emanuele Ravano, Pimco managing director and head of European global wealth management channel, said: “Our clients are seeking income and capital protection in the current low yield environment. A multi-sector strategy using income-efficient portfolio management to invest across a broad spectrum of market sectors is an attractive addition to our range of solutions aimed at creating income in any given market environment.”

Domiciled in Dublin, the fund falls under Pimco’s Ucits-compliant Global Investor Series, which now has 45 sub-funds.

The Pimco GIS Income Fund will be available to investors in both institutional and retail share classes and various currency-hedged versions.
