Morgan Stanley unveils long/short equity fund

7 Sep 11

Morgan Stanley and US manager Ascend Capital are to launch a Ucits-III long/short strategy.

Morgan Stanley and US manager Ascend Capital are to launch a Ucits-III long/short strategy.

The MS Ascend Ucits Fund will be run by San Francisco-based Ascend, with Morgan Stanley acting as promoter.

The strategy will launch in Morgan Stanley’s FundLogic platform and will be managed in a similar way to the Ascend Partners Fund II, according to Morgan Stanley managing director and global head of fund-linked business David Armstrong.

“We believe our rigorous bottom-up investment process, combined with the extensive proprietary
fundamental processes developed over the past 16 years, allows us to identify the best risk/reward
ideas,” said Ascend Capital CIO and founder Malcolm Fairbairn.

“This new addition to our FundLogic Alternatives Platform is further proof of our commitment to provide investors with a wide range of Ucits funds gathering talented investment managers,” added Armstrong.
