30 Nov 12

Aviva is set to cut 120 jobs worth a reported £400m in cost savings.

Aviva is set to cut 120 jobs worth a reported £400m in cost savings.

The cuts will come from its Sheffield-based stand-alone property claims management business, Asprea, which is to be integrated into similar centres in Perth and Southend.

Aviva says this will result in a “simpler more streamlined services” for customers. The integration is scheduled to complete by the end of 2013.

Caroline Cooper, director of property claims at Aviva said: “Today’s announcement aims to create a simpler service for our household and commercial customers with fewer people involved in the handling of their property claim.

“But we appreciate this is also a difficult time for our employees and we will be working with them to provide the support they need and will be offering re-deployment opportunities where we can.”

In July, it was reported that Aviva would be selling a number of its international businesses as part of a strategic review.
