The Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry has elected Anouk Agnes, its director of communications and business development for the past year, deputy director general.

The role of deputy director general has been vacant since December 2011, when Charles Muller, who had also handled communications for the Luxembourg funds industry organisation, left to take up a role as a partner at KPMG.

Agnes retains her title and duties as Alfi’s director of coms and business development, Alfi said.

Prior to joining Alfi last April, Agnes had been an adviser at Luxembourg’s Ministry of Finance, where she was involved in the country’s efforts to develop its financial services sector. Previous roles included development cooperation activities for a number of organisations, including the Asian Development Bank and Lux-Development.

Alfi represents more than 1,000 Luxembourg-domiciled investment funds, asset management companies and a wide range of service providers including depositary banks, fund administrators, transfer agents, distributors, legal firms, tax experts and communication and IT companies.

The Luxembourg fund industry lays claim to being Europe’s largest funds domicile, and says its products are distributed in more than 70 countries.
