aberdeen doubles its global small cap fund range

22 Aug 12

Aberdeen Asset Management has added to its small cap fund range with the launch of a second global proposition.

Aberdeen Asset Management has added to its small cap fund range with the launch of a second global proposition.

Each fund sits under the team run by Stephen Docherty, head of global equities, with the newest launch run from the firm’s Edinburgh office.

The Luxembourg-domiciled Aberdeen Global World Smaller Companies Fund will hold between 40 and 60 stocks, focusing on businesses with less than $5bn. The fund follows the same strategy as the existing $60m US-domiciled Aberdeen Global Small Cap Fund run by Docherty’s global equities team.

Therefore, both will follow a fundamental, bottom-up investment style, using first-hand research carried out by its regional equity teams around the world.

The Global Small Cap Fund currently has 45 stocks, the average market cap of which is $2.6bn. The holdings are primarily in emerging markets (34.5%0 and Europe (30.6%).
