AJ Bell’s Mike Morrison dies

By Kirsten Hastings, 7 Nov 17

Industry veteran Mike Morrison, head of platform technical at AJ Bell, has died at the age of 55.

Morrison, who leaves behind a wife and young daughter, passed away at home on Monday. The cause of death is not yet known.

A well-known, liked and respected person, Morrison worked in the industry for almost 30 years through roles at Winterthur Life, Axa Wealth and AJ Bell.

Morrison was a regular press commentator and featured in many International Adviser articles, most recently speaking about the information vacuum advisers faced on pension transfers.

Tribute

Andy Bell, chief executive of AJ Bell, said in a statement: “Mike was never more comfortable than when he was in a room full of financial advisers talking about the finer points of pension input periods or DB transfers.

“He was one of the most experienced pension commentators in the industry and I’m sure leaves many friends and acquaintances behind. Most importantly he was a husband and father and our thoughts and support are with his family at this difficult time.

“He will be sorely missed by everyone at AJ Bell.”
