Victoria Myerson (pictured centre) was a partner in Appleby’s dispute resolution department in Jersey and head of family law. She specialises in a broad range of family law services acting for mid-range and high net worth clients.
She was called to the English bar in 1994 and worked as a barrister in London, before returning to Jersey and re-qualifying as an advocate of the Royal Court in 2003. She joined Appleby in 2004 and made partner in 2012.
Myerson is joined at her new St Helier-based firm, called Myersons, by advocate and senior associate Carly James (pictured left) and advocate Celanne Scally (right), both formerly of Appleby.
The Bermuda headquarters of Appleby was hacked in 2016 with client documents, known as the Paradise Papers, leaked to the media. There is no connection between Myerson’s departure and the ongoing scrutiny of what has been the legal activity carried out by Appleby on behalf of its clients.
Philosophy of well being
While working through their family cases, the advocates encourage clients to seek counselling, engage in mindfulness and other health support services. The new firm said takes its responsibilities to clients very seriously and has ingrained an ethos of wellness into its core philosophy.

“Over my career, I have seen the stress and impact that family disputes can have on clients’ emotional and physical wellbeing and we are dedicated as a business to ensuring cases are dealt with efficiently and sensitively whilst encouraging clients to access therapeutic and wellness support as well. We are not fee focused, we are family focused and I strongly believe that we have the best team in the island to help clients navigate their disputes.”
