Mike Balfour is to leave his post as CEO of Thomas Miller Investment at the end of January 2016.

Balfour, who joined the firm as TMI CIO in July 2009 was appointed CEO in September 2010. He has resigned his post but has agreed to continue his role and manage the business while a replacement is secured, Bruce Kesterton, Thomas Miller Group CEO said.

According to Balfour’s Linkedin page he wishes “ to explore non-exec and advisory roles”.

Kesterson said in a short statement that the process to recruit a new CEO has begun, and added: “that Balfour “has been instrumental in creating and developing a solid business platform for the business, which is set fair for the future.

“We are very grateful to Mike for his enormous efforts over the last five years and wish him all the best in the future.”

Before joining TMI, he spent just over three years as CEO of Glasgow Investment Managers and 16 years as CIO at Edinburgh Fund Managers.
