Barclays has appointed four senior private bankers to its Singapore office, in a move which it said underlines the countrys importance as a wealth management hub for the bank.

Two of the newly appointed private bankers will focus on the Indonesia market for Barclays – Tsukasa Miyachi who joined as managing director on 3 April and Erliena Yulianawati who joined from Clariden Leu (now part of Credit Suisse) as director.

Meanwhile, Fumiko Omura joined from Merrill Lynch as director on 20 March. She will focus on clients across Barclays’ “key markets”, primarily in Southeast Asia.

Eugene Huang was also appointed to the bank’s Greater China team in February to focus on serving ultra high net worth clients.

Srinivas Siripurapu, head of wealth management, South Asia and Southeast Asia, for Barclays, said: “Singapore has established its reputation for high standards of regulation and supervision, as well as a robust legal and judicial framework.  As the wealth management industry in Singapore continues to develop in tandem with the burgeoning pace of wealth creation, Barclays is focused on attracting the best private banking talent to tap on this growth.”
