Barclays Capital has made its Pure Beta Commodity Fund available for investment within offshore bond

Barclays Capital has made its Pure Beta Commodity Fund available for investment within offshore bond

The fund, which is part of the Barclays Capital Fund Solutions Ucits range, aims to participate in the mid to long-term commodity prices by providing a return linked to the Barclays Capital Pure Beta DJ-UBSCI Total Return index.

Barclays said the Pure Beta strategy has been designed to provide a more representative measure of commodity market returns than traditional investments. Barclays added the strategy is constructed around the concept of providing the best proxy for the front-year futures strip for each commodity looking across multiple points of the term structure and aiming to minimise market distortions.

The fund is available in euro and dollar denominations and is available through a number of offshore life bond platform.

David MacDonald head of retail insurance solutions at Barclays Capital said: “The Barclays Pure Beta Commodity fund could be an ideal vehicle for investors who wish to take on view on the commodities asset class.”
