The £6.8bn fund charges investors one basis point less than the Aberdeen UK All Share Tracker, but annualised performance over three years is on par at 5.96% net of fees. Over five years the Vanguard product performs slightly better, returning 7.27% annualised, compared to Aberdeen’s 7.13%, according to Morningstar.

When compared to the second most-expensive FTSE All Share tracker, the Old Mutual UK Index fund, the Vanguard product delivered 55 basis point outperformance annualised over three years and 63 basis points extra over five years. Old Mutual’s annualised performance was 5.42% and 6.64% respectively over those periods.
