Brooks Macdonald hires former Axa Wealth

By International Adviser, 25 Jun 14

Brooks Macdonald has recruited a former Axa Wealth International offshore specialist to develop its professional adviser and intermediary relationships in the UK’s south west and south of Wales.

Brooks Macdonald has recruited a former Axa Wealth International offshore specialist to develop its professional adviser and intermediary relationships in the UK's south west and south of Wales.

Kristian Guest joins as a business development manager, to form part of the company’s new business development team based in Taunton.

Prior to joining Brooks Macdonald, Guest was business development manager at Axa Wealth and Axa Wealth international, where he gained more than eight years’ experience managing intermediary client relationships.

He has worked with domestic and international markets, and recently specialised in tax and trust planning and offshore investments.

Guest said: “I see this as a phase of exponential growth, with more and more advice firms outsourcing their investment propositions to discretionary managers.”

Guest left Axa in February this year, during a transitional phase for the life company which has seen it reduce the size of its offshore team.

'At risk'

In May last year the company made five international development manager positions and two account director positions redundant in its offshore team.

Last week, International Adviser revealed that Axa Wealth’s specialist sales team, which looks after the sale of offshore bonds into the UK, was set to shrink further.

Axa confirmed that it is from this specialist products team that two roles are “at risk”.

The company said at the time: “Axa Wealth is enhancing its management structure to create efficiencies to better support its adviser segments.

“We remain committed to the offshore advisory market and announced a while ago that we would evolve our business structure to offer the best support to advisers in line with the unprecedented levels of change in the industry.”
