By Mark Battersby, 30 Apr 24

Sessions will cover a range of topics, including budgeting, saving, investing, and retirement planning

Brooks Macdonald has partnered with Sporting Wellness, a charity dedicated to providing free and accessible mental health care to sportspeople in a bid to help the growing need for financial wellbeing within the athletic community, offering specialised financial wellbeing sessions tailored to the unique challenges faced by sportspeople.

Sporting Wellness is “renowned for its commitment to enhancing the mental wellbeing of sports people, recognising the profound impact that mental health has on sporting success and overall quality of life”, the wealth and asset manager said.

By partnering with Brooks Macdonald, the charity gains access to expert financial advisers who understand the financial pressures and uncertainties often experienced by athletes pursuing their sporting dreams.

As part of this partnership, Brooks Macdonald will provide financial wellbeing sessions designed to empower the athletes of Sporting Wellness’s charity partners with the knowledge and tools necessary to manage their finances effectively, alleviate stress, and cultivate long-term financial stability. These sessions will cover a range of topics, including budgeting, saving, investing, and retirement planning, tailored to the unique circumstances and aspirations of each athlete.

Alex Charalambous, head of wealth at Brooks Macdonald, said: “We are delighted to join forces with Sporting Wellness to focus on prioritising mental health in sports. Through our expertise in financial planning and investment management, we can help to equip athletes with the resources and security they need to thrive, allowing them to devote more of their time and energy to the people and activities they love.”

Founder of Sporting Wellness, Callum Lea said: “I’m very proud that our first corporate partnership is with Brooks Macdonald, this represents a significant step forward in our efforts to support the mental wellbeing of athletes. By integrating financial wellness into our holistic approach to mental health care, we can provide comprehensive support that addresses the many needs of our members.”

Together, Brooks Macdonald and Sporting Wellness said they were committed to fostering a culture of mental health awareness and resilience within the sports community, ensuring that athletes have the resources and support they need to reach their full potential.
