Carey Olsen has written a detailed briefing note on the background and possible components of the UK and US intergovernmental agreements, reporting arrangements for non-doms and implications for Guernsey financial services institutions.

The law firm’s briefing note follows the news on 15 March announced by the Guernsey’s chief minister, deputy Peter Harwood, that the island was in the process of finalising the IGA to cover a tax package of three initiatives.

The announcement also explained that finalised terms and details of the UK IGA will be subject to consultation with industry on implementation issues and that the intention is to publish both the UK IGA and US IGA concurrently.

With offices already established in Guernsey, Jersey and London, Carey Olsen placed late last year three lead partners, Jason Allison, Nick Bullmore, Jarrod Farley and Anthony McKenzie, on the Cayman Islands where it also now has a practice.
