DeVere Group appoints Peter Hobbs as chairman

By Mark Battersby, 15 Sep 15

DeVere Group has today named Peter Hobbs, a former director of Generali International and Generali Pan Europe, as its chairman.

DeVere Group has today named Peter Hobbs, a former director of Generali International and Generali Pan Europe, as its chairman.

Hobbs, who joined deVere Group’s board of directors in a non-executive role in June 2013, will start his new role immediately.

In a statement, deVere Group said his “primary focus” will be working with Nigel Green, founder and chief executive, and Beverley Yeomnas, chief operating officer, to guide and develop global strategy and business plans.

Green said Hobbs had a thorough regulatory understanding of the sector and, through his role as a non-executive director, “a strong empathy with our culture and commitment to serving clients”.

Hobbs said that since joining the deVere Group board he had “seen the organisation’s management adapt and take advantage of the challenges and opportunities companies of its size and type face in respect of both the market and regulatory challenges”.

He added that organic growth and acquisitions of brands like Acuma and Workplace Solutions are “bringing greater diversity” to group business.

“Many challenges remain, but with the prudent deployment of future capital, linked to a disciplined approach to corporate governance and marketing initiatives, I would expect the Group to continue its successful upward curve” he said.
