Investec AM has recruited Victoria Harling from Nomura to work on its emerging market debt strategies.

Harling is to take on the role as co-portfolio manager of the Investec Emerging Markets Corporate Debt strategy, also taking on responsibility for corporate emerging markets debt and hard currency emerging market debt. She will run both alongside Peter Eerdmans, head of the emerging market debt and currency team.

Most recently, she worked on the sell side at Nomura running hedge funds and proprietary trading strategies. Prior to this she spent eight years with Henderson Global Investors running emerging market debt portfolios.

Investec AM runs close to $6bn across its emerging market debt Oeic and Sicav ranges, dominated by its $2.5bn local currency debt Sicav (launched in November 2007) and $2bn debt Oeic (launched in June 2006).

The complete emerging market debt range is run by Eerdmans and his debt and currency team. It includes the $56m Blended Debt, $70 Corporate Debt, Hard Currency Debt, $241 Investment Grade Debt, $2.5bn Local Currency Debt, and $350m Local Currency Dynamic Debt funds.

Besides the multi-billion dollar funds, the oldest of these – the Emerging Markets Blended Debt Sicav – was launched as recently as December 2010. The most recent launches – the Emerging Market Corporate Debt and Hard Currency Debt Sicavs – were in April last year.
