By Mark Battersby, 10 Dec 12

Mark Hartigan is to become Zurich’s chief executive for global life business in Asia Pacific and the Middle East from January 1 2013, in a move which will involve the head of the Isle of Man operation directly reporting to Hong Kong.

Mark Hartigan is to become Zurich's chief executive for global life business in Asia Pacific and the Middle East from January 1 2013, in a move which will involve the head of the Isle of Man operation directly reporting to Hong Kong.

The chief executives from the Isle of Man, Singapore, Hong Kong, and UAE, respectively Clive Baker, Graham Morrall, Ted Wai and Thorsten Kocherscheidt will all report to Hartigan.

Currently head of Zurich’s strategic business development, Hartigan succeeds ex Prudential man Dan Bardin who will retire from Zurich by the end of this year.

Based in Zurich’s Hong Kong headquarters for the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions, he will be responsible for further developing and executing strategy across all life businesses in Asia and the Middle East. Zurich Life Singapore is planning to launch new international and expatriate propositions in 2014.

Walter Jopp, Zurich head of business development, global clients bank distribution, said Hartigan’s new role will give continued strategic focus to Zurich’s international plans and that he will report to Kevin Hogan, Zurich’s global life chief executive.

Hartigan joined Zurich in 2009 having previously been deputy chief executive at Nexus Group Middle East from 2006 to 2009.
