Investec Asset Management has extended the range of its funds available to Latin American investors, with the addition of the Lat Am Smaller Companies Fund.

The Luxembourg domiciled fund is part of Investec’s GSF fund range and will be managed and distributed in Latin America by its partner Compass Group – a specialist distributor with offices across the South American continent.

Managed by Compass partner and portfolio manager Carina Güerisoli, the fund launched on 11 June with $100m of third party assets under management. Mainly targeted at the institutional market as well as fund buyers/advisers in Latin America, the fund, as with all of Investec’s Luxembourg domiciled range, is also available to investors elsewhere.

Investec said Güerisoli, who has managed its $50m Lat Am Equity Fund since its launch in April 2010, “should be ideally suited to picking out the best smaller companies in the region”, and added that the fund is a “great play on the domestic growth story across a range of the Latin American markets”.

In addition to the equity fund, Güerisoli has managed the $730m Lat Am Corporate Debt Fund, also since April 2010.
