LatAm investment bank opens wealth arm in Portugal

By Robbie Lawther, 24 Jan 20

It will offer services to clients across Europe

BTG Pactual has set up its first wealth management operation in Europe with the establishment of a Lisbon, Portugal office.

It will also serve clients that live in other European countries, offering wealth planning, family office, portfolio management, alternative investments and corporate advisory services.

Ricardo Borgerth, a partner with 16 years’ experience in wealth management at the bank, will head up the operation.

Triple AuM

“We were already remotely serving a number of clients in Europe, many of whom are in Portugal due to the migration of Brazilians there,” said Borgerth.

“The idea behind opening our office is to be closer to these people and to offer new clients all our sophistication, expertise and returns – traits that are already widely recognised.

“Our target is to triple the current amount under management in the next three-to-five years.”

BTG Pactual´s wealth management division now has offices in Latin America, the US and Europe.
