Private bank Brown Shipley has launched a South Asian service which aims to serve the needs of clients of South Asian origin based in the UK and overseas.

Ravi Sidhoo, head of global South Asian banking for Brown Shipley’s parent group KBL European Private Bankers, is leading the new initiative.

Three private bankers have been specifically recruited for the role. Sameer Kaushal joins Brown Shipley as private banking director from HSBC, where he was head of NRI (Non-Resident Indians) UK and Europe, Dhruv Bhatnagar joins as senior private banker from EFG Private Bank and Imran Qureshi joins as private banker from SG Hambros.

Brown Shipley said the London-based team expects to establish a client base that will include senior finance professionals, doctors and entrepreneurs who live in the UK but are of South Asian origin – most notably from India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Sidhoo said: “South Asia has seen enormous economic growth in recent years, fuelled in part by the success of India which has emerged as one of the largest and fastest growing economies in the world. This has created an influential South Asian diaspora with unique and often complex wealth planning needs.

“The global focus of KBL European Private Bankers means we are strongly positioned to serve the needs of this diaspora, providing services ranging from international banking facilities to investment management.”
