Guernsey-based Generali International has appointed former Scottish Widows account manager Mark Maplesden to the group's sales team in Dubai in a newly-created role to help to bolster the insurance provider’s overall support to intermediaries and banks in the UAE.

Guernsey-based Generali International has appointed former Scottish Widows account manager Mark Maplesden to the group's sales team in Dubai in a newly-created role to help to bolster the insurance provider’s overall support to intermediaries and banks in the UAE.

Maplesden has already started in his role as a sales manager, where his is currently on secondment to the Dubai-based Generali Group company, Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A.

The company said in a statement that since the launch of Generali in the UAE, Generali International has offered product and service support to the Group company and the sales force has successfully developed its independent financial adviser network and bank relationships in the UAE.

His appointment comes two months after it was reported that the company’s chief executive, Debbie Guillou, had left the company to work for a Guernsey-based medical services company.

It is understood that Guillou will not be directly replaced but that Giorgio Daboni, the chief executive of Generali Worldwide and Generali International, and his executive management team, would oversee both companies.
