Europe has been in the headline for much of the summer as issues with Greece never seem to go away,” said Lowcock.

“However, the region continues to look attractive relative to other developed markets and we believe that the impact of a weak currency on the competitiveness of European companies has not been fully appreciated.

“While Europe has not exactly turned a corner, it has hovered its nosedive and there are indications coming through that the economic environment is improving,” agreed Khalaf.

“There is reasonable value in the market – which is relatively attractive as opposed to being a bargain – and this is making it a pretty good entry point.”

“This fund has been run with a clearly defined investment strategy,” Lowcock expanded. “Manager John Bennett pays close attention to macroeconomic and sector trends as this helps adds value.

“Mean reversion is a central theme of the fund, with Bennett looking for companies trading below their intrinsic value. This fund is likely to be relatively defensive and focused on large companies.”
