Melo partners with longstanding online financial adviser community LifeTalk for ‘new voice’

By Mark Battersby, 22 May 24

Melo was formed through recent merger of The Exit Partnership, Change Squared and AspireExec

Newly formed business cycle agency Melo unveiled today (22 May) a new partnership with LifeTalk, the “world’s oldest” online community of financial advisers and planners.

The LifeTalk group was founded around 25 years ago by Phil Calvert. It is a vibrant online community of nearly 4,000 financial advisers, planners, and financial services professionals on Facebook and 7,200 on LinkedIn, the statement said.

Melo, launched last week and was formed through the recent merger of The Exit Partnership, Change Squared and AspireExec, bringing together recruitment, business growth and exit planning expertise.

Melo’s involvement will see the LifeTalk community playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of the profession. In the coming months, members can expect to see some exciting ideas and initiatives, including the launch of a steering committee.

Commenting on the partnership, Phil Calvert, founder of LifeTalk said: “I’m incredibly proud of the role our community has played in supporting financial advisers and planners over the past 25 years. LifeTalk has become an essential resource for networking, exchanging ideas and helping advisers run successful businesses.”

“Our partnership with Melo represents an exciting opportunity to further enhance this support, ensuring that financial advisers continue to thrive in an evolving profession. Together, we aim to provide even greater value, while maintaining the collaborative and professional spirit that has made LifeTalk such a valuable community.”

Melo Group CEO Victoria Hicks said: “Melo educates, guides and supports planning firms, that’s exactly what LifeTalk does. It’s clear Phil has created a genuine community, that’s vibrant, fun and inclusive. It’s everything we hoped to build ourselves. Instead, we approached Phil to explore the possibility of Melo powering LifeTalk in the future. I’m delighted he has agreed!”

She added: “We want LifeTalk to become the voice of the profession. The calibre, excitement and ambition in the group can’t be found anywhere else and we believe it can start to influence and shape the future of the planning profession. We will set up a steering committee to pool knowledge, understand the key challenges that advisers/planners face, and agree on how the LifeTalk community can address these needs.”

Phil Calvert is a financial services marketing expert specialising in helping financial advisers and planners market themselves more effectively. He founded LifeTalk in 1999 and since then has grown it to a community of over 4,000 on Facebook and 7,200 on LinkedIn.

Melo is a business lifecycle agency. Launched on 15 May 2024, it saw three businesses – The Exit Partnership, Aspire Exec and Change Squared – come together under one brand to help firms launch, grow and exit.
