Montello Real Estate Opportunity approved in Spore

23 Jul 14

UK-based real estate financier Montello has received the go-ahead from the Monetary Authority of Singapore to distribute its Real Estate Opportunity Fund in the country.

UK-based real estate financier Montello has received the go-ahead from the Monetary Authority of Singapore to distribute its Real Estate Opportunity Fund in the country.

This is the second fund to be approved in Singapore following the Montello Income Fund that was approved in April 2013.

The latest one, the Montello Real Estate Opportunity Fund is a Luxembourg SICAV which invests in real estate opportunities, with a focus on the UK, and particularly on London and the South East of England.

Investment opportunities include financing, joint ventures, direct and co-investment in real estate and associated securities and investments.

Commenting on the MAS approval, Joseph Samuel, director of funds management and distribution said:  “Singapore has been a key jurisdiction for us with our other offerings, and we have considerable demand for the new fund in place. We look forward to growing our existing Singapore relationships further, and to adding new ones."

According to Montello, the fund is currently just over $30m in size and is "growing steadily."

The open-ended fund which trades monthly, has offered an annualised 8-13% per annum return to investors since its inception, beating its target  of 6-10%..

Investors can invest in the scheme with a minimum £10,000.
