Neuberger Berman launches emerging market fund

27 Jun 11

Neuberger Berman has launched an emerging markets equity fund.

Neuberger Berman has launched an emerging markets equity fund.

The Neuberger Berman Emerging Markets Equity Fund, which has been seeded by a Japanese institutional investor, will be managed by Conrad Saldanha who joined the company from Lehman Brothers in 2008.

It will aim to produce long-term capital growth by investing in emerging market equities and will be benchmarked against the MSCI Emerging Markets Index.

“Neuberger Berman has been managing emerging market equities for over 10 years and this UCITS fund builds on our strong long-term track record in this asset class,” said Saldanha “Our fund is broader than most in that it aims to capture opportunities across the entire market cap spectrum. We believe this will create superior risk-adjusted return opportunities for our clients.”

The underlying strategy currently has a weighted average market cap of $18.5bn versus $29.3bn for the MSCI EM benchmark.
