Nils Hemmer has been named to head up wholesale and third party sales for Pioneer Investments in Germany, succeeding Norbert Welp, who has left the company.

Hemmer, who joins Pioneer next month, has been head of insurance sales in Germany at Fidelity Worldwide Investments since 2008.

At Pioneer he will oversee the distribution of mutual fund products to such entities as insurers, banks and wealth managers, and be supported by a sales team of seven.

He reports to Oliver Bilal, head of distribution for Germany at Pioneer.

Prior to joining Fidelity, Hemmer held a number of management roles in the third-party distribution area with various other companies. He trained in insurance and holds a Master’s degree in business studies from AKAD Fachhochschule.

Pioneer Investments is a trading name of the Pioneer Global Asset Management S.p.A. group of companies, which in turn is a wholly owned subsidiary of UniCredit S.p.A. It has major offices in Dublin, London and Boston.
