Ogier appoints managing partner to Hong Kong office

27 Jun 11

Ogier has promoted James Bergstrom to the position of managing partner of its Hong Kong business.

Ogier has promoted James Bergstrom to the position of managing partner of its Hong Kong business.

Bergstrom, who will take up the position from January next year, will relocate from the Cayman Islands where he has been managing partner of the firm’s Cayman legal business for eight years.

He will take over from existing managing partner Duncan Smith who is retiring at the end of the year. Smith was the founding partner of BVI firm WSmiths which merged with Ogier in 2007 and founded the Hong Kong office in 2006.

“We have opened an office in Tokyo and we plan to further increase our presence in the region,” said Nick Kershaw, Ogier Group CEO. “We are very grateful to Duncan Smith as our Hong Kong office is the fastest growing in the group.  James’ appointment will further bolster the firm’s already highly regarded work in this region.”
